Agribusiness Software Integrations: Connecting Grain Operations, Equipment, & ERP Systems
Agribusinesses depend on information flowing accurately and efficiently between equipment, operational systems, and financial applications. GSS (Grossman Software Solutions) provides flexible integration capabilities that help connect these systems, automate routine transactions, reduce manual data entry, and keep business information consistent across your organization.
GSS offers two solutions: Agrosoft, which is targeted for larger corporate customers who typically integrate with 3rd party corporate accounting packages, and AgExceed, which targets smaller growth agribusinesses who prefer an all-in-one solution.
Automate Data Collection and Transaction Processing
Both Agrosoft and AgExceed can interface with a wide variety of mechanical devices, including electronic scales, grain graders, and moisture readers. By capturing data directly from these devices, you can eliminate repetitive manual entry, reduce the risk of errors, and accelerate transaction processing.
In addition, we have the ability to interface with barcode scanners. Customer barcodes can be printed on contracts, orders, or invoices to facilitate rapid customer lookups. It can also interface with our order entry system for supermarket like convenience with our point-of-sale systems.
We have configurable interfaces for futures prices as well as currency exchange rates. We can also interface with external brokerage systems so that futures trades can be imported directly without extra data entry.
Interfaces can be built to communicate directly with a device or implemented through an automated process that collects information as it becomes available. Once all required information has been received, the process can automatically trigger a completed transaction in Agrosoft—reducing manual intervention while helping ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently.
Flexible Interfaces with Minimal Programming
Integrating systems shouldn't require extensive custom development every time information needs to move from one application to another. Many GSS interfaces can be configured without custom programming, allowing you to define the location and size of interface’s input fields, and map those fields to their corresponding fields in the system.
For example, you could say the first 4 characters of the input record are the location identifier, and this maps to a specific user-defined-field in Agrosoft. This configurable approach makes it possible to build connections to other systems with little or no programming, reducing implementation effort and making integrations easier to maintain as business requirements evolve.
Comprehensive APIs and Automated Data Synchronization
Agrosoft also provides a full suite of Application Programming Interface (API) capabilities for a wide range of business functions. These include customer and vendor synchronization, account synchronization, and other processes that help keep information consistent across multiple systems.
We have built automated synchronizations for key master data, such as customer and/or product data. Information can be maintained in an outside corporate system, with changes automatically synchronizing into Agrosoft via our API. Alternately, Agrosoft can be the system of record, and changes in Agrosoft can be automatically propagated to other external systems.
Rather than maintaining the same information independently in several applications, your systems can exchange updates automatically. This reduces duplicate data entry, minimizes inconsistencies, and helps ensure that employees and business processes are working with accurate, up-to-date information.
As another example, Agrosoft includes APIs for calculating prices by combining current futures prices with basis pricing, including adjustments for factors such as basis location and foreign currency.
Through configurable APIs, Agrosoft and AgExceed allow devices and systems to communicate in real time, without the need to batch requests.
Connect Pricing, Orders, and Shipments
Agribusiness transactions often depend on information from multiple sources. For example, different vendors or customers may send you orders in different formats. GSS supports integrations that bring these elements together and automate key operational processes.
Automated processes can also receive order information and update shipment weights and grades, connecting contracting with the physical shipments and handling of grain and other commodities.
By automating the exchange of this information, businesses can reduce delays, limit manual intervention, and maintain a more consistent flow of information from order entry through shipment and transaction completion.
Integrate with Your Financial Systems
GSS understands that every agribusiness has its own financial systems, processes, and reporting requirements. Agrosoft supports integration with a variety of third-party accounting platforms, including, but not limited to, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and JD Edwards.
Through APIs and configurable interfaces, these integrations can exchange general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable information. This allows businesses to connect their agribusiness operations with their established financial systems without requiring every operational function to be managed within the same application.
Agrosoft inventory system integrates with other systems in terms of both inventory cost and physical inventory count. We can interface with your mixer or blender, depleting ingredients as we assign the correct costs to the finished products. We can also automatically interface with other systems to increase or reduce product as part of order entry, or as part of an inventory adjustment.
For companies using Agrosoft, the system typically generates the vast majority of operational accounting transactions associated with grain operations. The resulting journal entries—and, where appropriate, payable or receivable information—can then be exported to the company's financial system. This approach allows Agrosoft to manage the specialized operational requirements of the agribusiness while the existing accounting platform continues to serve as the central financial system.
For growing, medium-sized businesses, AgExceed takes a different approach by incorporating a full-featured accounting system directly into the package. This provides an integrated operational and financial solution without requiring a separate third-party accounting application.
CompuWeigh, oneWeigh, LV Controls– A Real World Example
With our first Canadian customer, we built an interface that brought weights directly into the Agrosoft scale screen at the press of a button. Years later, we worked with different customers who preferred to capture the weights using the Compuweigh, oneWeigh, and LV Controls systems, and then use a scale interface to import the information into Agrosoft. Whatever method you choose, we can provide a seamless transfer of data from the device into your accounting system.
Integration That Fits the Way You Do Business
Agrosoft & AgExceed use an open architecture to integrate with a large variety of digital agriculture tools.
Integrations supported:
- Moisture readers
- Electronic Scales
- Grain Graders
- Barcode Readers
- 3rd Pary Reporting Tools
- APIs and integrations for Pricing, Customer/Vendor Information, G/L, A/R, A/P, Orders, and Reporting
- External Accounting Interfaces to systems such as JDE, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics
No two agribusinesses are exactly the same. Some need direct connections to specialized equipment, while others need to synchronize multiple operational systems or integrate a sophisticated grain accounting platform with an established corporate financial system.
GSS provides the flexibility to support these different approaches. Whether through direct device interfaces, configurable data imports, automated transaction processing, APIs, or connections to third-party accounting systems, our goal is to help you connect your systems in the way that best supports your business.
Whatever your business needs, GSS solutions enable your systems to work together to support your company’s operations today, and in the years to come.
